Emily Lawson

Emily Lawson is a Vancouver-based poet and PhD candidate in philosophy at the University of British Columbia. Her poems and lyric essays have appeared in Sixth Finch, Adroit, Indiana Review, Thrush, Muzzle, Waxwing, and elsewhere, and have been awarded a Palette Poetry Love & Eros Prize, an Indiana Review 1/2 K prize, and a Witness Literary Award.
Maybe the true self emerges, lives and works outdoors. Forgets it can be seen—no mirrors, no service, no battery life, no photos.
We all face this predicament. We are running out of time, so how do we feel vividly alive in the time we have? We can try to slow down the subjective passage of time through close attention, curiosity, and cherishing.
